  1. This archive contains two files:

  6. The Milwaukee Road's class EP-3 included ten locomotives designed for
  7. passenger service.  Driving wheels were 68 inches (very large for an
  8. electric locomotive) and electrical equipment was by Westinghouse - unlike
  9. the rest of the Milwaukee Road's electrics, which were by GE.
  10.  
  11. Wheel arrangment 2-C-1+1-C-2, hourly output 4200 hp., maximum starting
  12. tractive effort 105,000 lbs..  They were 88 feet 7 inches long and weighed
  13. 300 tons.

  18. The EP-3 used a "box cab" design typical of the period.  Shaped almost like
  19. a passenger car, this gave plenty of room for electrical equipment and an
  20. excellent field of view for the crew.  However, it was a danger to the crew
  21. in collision since they had no structure ahead of them.  Other electric
  22. locomotives (such as the Pennsylvania RR's famous GG-1 and the Milwaukee
  23. Road's own bipolars) used a "center cab" design to overcome this hazard.

  25. Picture notes:  This began as an IMAGINE 2.0 ray-trace, with shadows; the
  26. rails, ties, etc. are IMAGINE objects, as is the locomotive with paint
  27. scheme (to a scale of 1 IMAGINE unit = 1 inch).

  29. The backdrop was created with Natural Graphics' SCENERY ANIMATOR.

  31. Minor details and lettering were added with DigiPaint 3.0 and DeluxePaint IV.

  33. Some minor details have been changed, omitted, or emphasized for artistic
  34. effect.
